Interviewing Dos and Don'ts
Looking to land your first teaching job? Check out this blog post from Michele Luck's Social Studies for a list of interviewing dos and don'ts. For example: "Practice, practice, practice. Interview with your parents, your spouse, your children, your dog... even your mirror. Get used to talking about your greatest talents and your awesome accomplishments."

Teaching Teens and Tweens
Teaching Teens and Tweens
As you reflect back on your school year, get inspired by why your fellow educators love teaching middle school and high school students. For example, Rigorous Resources by Lisa says: "I love it because they get your humor. When I was teaching 1st grade, my jokes went right over their heads, but middle school students laugh with me."

Edgar Allan Poe is a favorite among English teachers and in my "Create Your Own Poe Inspired Short Story," students create their own murder mystery in a step-by-step process. In my "Salem Witch Trials Informational Unit," students read an article about the trials and answer deeper level comprehension questions. There are a number of supplementary assignments that can be used at the teacher's discretion, such as translating the original court dialogue into a tweet or writing examination questions and answers into their own words. These resources, and many of my other products, can be used in either English or history classes!
