A Skill-Building Activity for Analyzing Character
A Skill-Building Activity for Analyzing Character
"On Monday, students were given sticky notes to help them track the various ways that their authors create character. I told them to pick one character trait and, as they read during the week, to take note of the methods used to develop that trait." See Jackie's step-by-step for teaching her students to analyze and write about character.

What better way to learn science than through coloring and food science? I began teaching by running a STEM tutoring center and teaching chemistry labs at a rural college. By being in several areas, I knew where student learning gaps and common pitfalls were. I began creating high school science resources that use color memory theory (CMT) or food science. My food science lessons cover topics like crystallization, saturation, and macromolecules. My CMT resources group traits by color (i.e. blue for cations, yellow for anions, etc). Using my resources, students will subconsciously learn trends before they are addressed in class. This makes solidifying those difficult-to-learn ideas easier on you!
