Movement in the Classroom: Why My Students Don't Have to Sit Still
Movement in the Classroom: Why My Students Don't Have to Sit Still
"Y'all, I can't sit still," says Danielle of Nouvelle ELA. "Throw me in a long meeting or even a long movie, and I struggle. I wasn't wiggly in high school, but now I need to move around more. If I can't sit still, my students shouldn't have to, either. That's why I'm a huge advocate of movement in the classroom."

Young people surprise me in the best ways possible. My charge is to inspire students in developing surprising answers to complex problems. This means helping them understand the world around them then giving them the skills, tools, and space to think critically and engage with those issues. The approach includes differentiating instruction to meet their diverse needs. Through support, I must build their confidence. After all, young people are both authors of their life and authors of our future. I have always felt compelled to equip students with the ability to challenge stories they have been told and write new ones.
